It’s been a very busy new year for us here at Nimble Storage. After announcing the 1,000-user SmartStack reference architecture for VDI with Cisco and VMware, our phones have been ringing off the hook. IT organizations are interested in how they too can tackle the VDI projects like CU-Boulder. The interest level has been so great that a recent webinar with our resident VDI expert Mike McLaughlin on SmartStack for VDI registered our largest attendance yet. VMware, Cisco, and Nimble Storage and our joint VARs are rolling out a series of VDI boot camps worldwide. Yes, you read that correct, a VDI Boot Camp! Attendees in this half-day workshop will learn all they need to know to successfully plan and deploy VDI.
The session topics include:
- Developing a business case for desktop virtualization
- Learning how to evaluate TCO/ROI for VDI
- Assessing the current end-user environment and identifying targets for VDI
- Understanding and sizing the server, storage, and network infrastructure
- Learning the best practices from successful VDI deployments
- Planning next steps
The VDI boot camps are targeted toward IT administrators and architects looking at VDI as well as IT managers and directors looking to justify desktop virtualization initiatives in the next year. And don’t worry, the VDI boot camp drill sergeants—^H^H^H^H#8212;I mean instructors from VMware, Nimble, and Cisco, along with our VARs, will help you every step of the way (no push-ups necessary).
